Stars leap to Sergeants defence
|
The row following John Sergeants shock resignation from Strictly Come Dancing rumbles on today, with all manner of celebrities and politicians eager to shove their two-pennorth into the debate in defence of the much-loved dancing pig in Cuban heels.
GMTVs Andrew Castle, who was voted off the show a few weeks ago, made a speech in praise of the departed star almost worthy of the new American president. He leaves the programme undefeated, his flag flying high, he boomed. The programme will be worse off for it because at end of the day it's an entertainment show and some people have failed in a spectacular fashion to see that.
Other people leaping to Johns defence include pudgy-cheeked posho and Tory leader David Cameron, who proved hes well and truly down with the proles by claiming to be devastated at the news, and fellow politician Peter Mandelson, who called him the peoples John Travolta.
Meanwhile, Mr Sergeant himself is set to draw a line under the sorry affair by heading off on an all-expenses-paid Caribbean cruise but not before one last swansong on this weekends show. John and partner Kristina Rihanoff are rumoured to be performing a waltz to the Sophie Ellis-Bextor hit Murder On The Dancefloor and ending the routine by firing imaginary bullets over the judges heads.
